Room Facilities

Alcohol Policy

Unless special permission is given on medical grounds, no alcohol may be brought into the hospital. Visitors are particularly requested to observe this rule as its breach could have very harmful effects on patients.

Beauty Care and Hairdressing Services

Facials, manicures, massages, haircuts, shampoos, styles and treatments are available and can be provided in your room by appointment. Please contact ward staff for details of these services.

Catering services

Menus
Menus are provided each morning from which you may select meals according to your taste and dietary requirements. If you have any special dietary needs, please check with our staff before ordering your meals to ensure we meet your requirements.

Morning/Afternoon Tea
Every morning and afternoon a tea/coffee trolley passes throughout the hospital offering refreshments including tea, coffee, milo, juice, lemonade, cheese, crackers and other snacks.

Meals for visitors
Meals are available to visitors for lunch and dinner at an additional cost of $10.00. Should you wish to order additional meals, please contact Front Reception on extension 800.

Attadale Private Hospital provides self-serve tea/coffee making facilities – please ask the staff for the locations.

There is also a vending machine operating 24/7 offering snacks and soft drinks located near the front reception.

Times
Orders for lunch should be made before 10:00am and before 3:00pm for dinner meals. In the interest of your health and safety, and to comply with food handling safety regulations the hospital has set meal times. Meals cannot be kept or stored for later in the day and meals cannot be specially ordered.

Meals are served at the following times: -
Breakfast 8:00am
Morning Tea 10:30am
Lunch 12:00 midday
Afternoon Tea 2:30pm
Dinner 5:30pm
Supper 7:30pm

Menus for the following day are distributed with your lunch tray and are collected by the hospital catering team.

Please do not hesitate to enquire through either the nursing or catering staff should you have any concerns or questions in relation to the service.

Chaplaincy Service

If you wish to receive pastoral care from a chaplain please contact your nurse who is happy to arrange this service for you.

Complimentary Therapies

A variety of complementary therapies are available for patients to take advantage of, simply ask nursing staff for further details.

Electrical Equipment

In order to protect the electricity supply to all areas of the hospital, our Bio-Medical Engineer must check all electrical equipment prior to use in the hospital. These include laptop computers, electric shavers, hair dryers, radios and clocks. We ask that you consult with ward staff prior to using them within the hospital.

Housekeeping

To make your stay at Attadale Private Hospital pleasant we endeavour to provide you with a fresh and clean room. However, if during your stay you feel we have neglected any aspect of our service please inform our staff and we will rectify the situation.

Incidentals

At Attadale Private Hospital, we are pleased to offer you a choice of multiple channels of Foxtel and internet access (wifi or kiosk) whilst you stay with us for a small charge.

Interpreter service

If you require an interpreter your nurse can arrange this and a fee will be incurred. An interpreter can be organised promptly, at any time. Our interpreter service is able to provide assistance in 26 languages and this also includes a telephone interpreting service.

Laundry

Attadale Private Hospital does not have patient laundering/washing facilities, so you will need to ask your relatives or carer to do your own personal washing.

Maintenance

To help us maintain a pleasant environment for our patients we have an ongoing maintenance program. If you find either on arrival or during your stay that something in your room is not working correctly, missing or in need of repair please complete a maintenance form available in your room and pass it on to a member of staff immediately and we will repair the fault as soon as possible.

Medication

Please bring all current medications with you. These will be locked in your bedside cabinet during your stay for your personal use. Please ensure each medication is in its original container and clearly labelled. With all of your medications please follow your doctors’ instructions.

Mobile Telephones

Mobile phones are to be switched off as these can interfere with electronic medical equipment. We ask that you please consult with ward staff prior to using them within the hospital.

Newspapers, Mail and Faxes

Newspapers can be purchased at the front foyer. Any mail or gifts that are delivered to the hospital daily will be delivered to your room. We will also deliver any stamped outgoing mail for yourself and send/receive any faxes necessary during your stay simply speak to the Front Office staff.

Nurse Call System - Hand Control Device

The interactive staff call system allows you to contact nursing staff 24 hours a day. There are two call points in your room: one is located on the handset; the other on the bathroom wall. Should you require any form of assistance from ward staff, please do not hesitate to make use of the staff call system.

Off-site Pharmacy

Medications on prescription are supplied from an off-site pharmacy. If appropriate please supply your pension and/or safety net number on admission.

Parking

Parking for patients, visitors and staff is available at the front of the hospital (entry via Hislop Road) and there is also street parking available at the front of the hospital.

You are requested NOT to park in parking bays allocated to Doctors and Ambulance. This ensures doctors and Ambulances always have immediate access to the hospital if required. Cars parked in disabled car spaces must display a valid permit.

Public Transport and Taxis

The nearest bus stop to Attadale Private Hospital is located on Canning Highway. A direct dial facility for taxi service is available at Front Reception.

Security

If your room has as external door, please make sure it is locked before you retire at night.

All staff on site are required to wear identification badges noting name, designation and area of work. External providers/Contractors must sign in at reception and display a contractor/visitors pass. Security is monitored by CCTV and external roaming patrols. All breaches of security must be reported to staff immediately. Unauthorised persons on the premises will be asked to leave. To ensure the safety of all the patients and staff, doors are secured with touch pad locks.

Smoking Policy

In conjunction with the Smoke Free Environment Act 2000, Attadale Private Hospital is a smoke free zone. There is to be no smoking on site at all times. The Act is being enforced by Attadale Private Hospital and the fine is $500 per person for non compliance which can lead to disciplinary action.

Telephone

All hospital rooms are fitted with direct dial telephone access. Outgoing local metropolitan calls are free. If you wish to make STD, international or mobile telephone calls, you will be charged for these and this is payable on your discharge from the hospital. Internet access is also available and a charge will also apply.

  • Dial 0 to access an outside phone line.
  • Dial 800 to be connected to a switchboard operator.
  • To receive direct incoming calls, simply add your room number to the prefix: (08) 9330 08_ _. For example, if your room number is 13, your direct dial telephone number for incoming calls is: (08) 9330 0813.

Television and radio

TV channel allocation
The entertainment system is remote-controlled to allow operation of the system from the comfort of your bed. Features include:

  • Television.
  • In-house radio system
  • FM radio.
  • Multiple Foxtel channels

We ask you to be considerate whilst watching TV if you are sharing a room so that your room companion may get adequate rest.

Should you have any difficulties with the television, please do not hesitate to bring it to the attention of any staff member who will be only too happy to assist.

Toilets

For health reasons, visitors are requested not to use patients’ toilets. Visitors’ toilets are located near the front foyer.

Valuables

We encourage you to not bring large sums of money or items of value to the hospital. Although the hospital has facilities to lock items away, we encourage you to leave anything of value at home. Arrangements to withdraw valuables should be made during office hours (9.00am – 4:30pm). Regrettably, we cannot accept liability for any items brought to the hospital that are not placed in safe custody. Items of value, i.e. watches, small amounts of cash/credit cards may be placed in your own locked bedside drawer.

Video Recording

Ramsay Health Care recognises that unique and special moments arise in hospitals that patients, families and friends may wish to capture on film. Ramsay Health Care needs to ensure that patient safety, clinical teamwork, the privacy of other patients, staff members and medical personnel are not compromised.

Devices that record both film and sound are not allowed in the following clinical areas:

  • Operating Suite
  • Birth Suite
  • Special Care Nurseries

Single shot devices that do not record sound are permissible by the agreement of the care team members present at the time.

Film and sound may be recorded in the privacy of a patients own room, provided the privacy of other patients and staff members are not compromised.

Visitors and Visiting Hours

Attadale Private Hospital visiting hours are from 2.30pm to 8.00pm. ‘Patient Rest Period’ is between the hours of 1:00pm and 2.30pm. Out of visiting hours will be accessed at the discretion of the Nursing Staff. If you are visiting from the country or are family, these visiting hours are flexible. If you do not wish to see a visitor, inform the nurse on your ward.

Visiting hours are open in the Day Surgery Unit, however following an anaesthetic patients are required to rest and recuperate so we request that the number of visitors is restricted.

Volunteers

This is an amazing group of dedicated volunteers who freely give their time to provide services to complement the work of Attadale Private Hospital employees.

Their contribution is another valued service offered by the community to enhance the quality of care being provided at Attadale Private Hospital
